Pork producers are invited to attend the Annual Meeting of the Wyoming Pork Producers Council (WPPC) to be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 in the UW Board Room at the Hilton Garden Inn, 2229 East Grand Avenue, in Laramie, Wyoming. The event is offered in conjunction with the University of Wyoming “Showcase Showdown” provided by the Wyoming 4H.
At 1pm, WPPC will offer a behind-the-scenes view of retail marketing and the meat case. Attendees will walk with pork from farm gate to farm plate through large retailers such as Walmart and Albertsons.
Additional agenda items include a Pork Checkoff Update and report on office activities. Recent projects include three scholarship endowments to community colleges in Wyoming and sponsorship of the Cheyenne Hispanic Festival. A new website is available at wyomingpork.org for more on future events and opportunities.
The National Pork Board delegate elections will follow at 2pm. The delegates elected at this time will represent the Wyoming pork industry at the 2013 Forum held the first week of March in Orlando, FL. Any producer, who is a resident of the state and has paid all assessments due may be considered as a delegate candidate and/or participate in the election. All eligible producers are encouraged to bring with them a sales receipt proving that hogs were sold in their name and the checkoff deducted.
Those interested in attending the Annual Meeting or learning more about WPPC are encouraged to call Executive Director Anne L. Miller at (406) 557-2980 or email wyomingpork@yahoo.com
